C.H.O.I.C.E.S

The Madison High School CHOICES program is funded by St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Charities and is coordinated by the Greater Houston AHEC.  It involves 3^rd year medical students, under the direction of Dr. Joey Fisher, from Baylor College of Medicine who provide a curriculum on topics that encourage healthy behaviors.  Additional health topics and health career information are provided by AHEC staff.  During the school year, Madison students come to weekly after-school sessions where they participate in engaging and interactive exercises centered on topics such as:  underage drinking, harms of tobacco, nutrition, exercise, and sexual health.  The program year includes a career/college fair and traditionally ends with a banquet to honor student participants.
