Project List

Our current projects for 2009-2010:

DeBakey High School for Health Professions

Pathways' goal with DeBakey students is to increase their knowledge
base and awareness of mental health and disorder, and the behavioral
health careers. Each grade's lessons will be developed in synch with its curriculum's goals and format. It is our hope to create a working model to use in other area high schools.

Coleman College/Nursing Department

Pathways' focus within Coleman's Nursing Department is to increase
students' understanding of psychiatric nursing, and to increase their interest in choosing this as a career. An enhanced psychiatric nursing rotation is being developed for a select number of students for the Summer 2010 semester. Additionally, sites are being sought for second year student psychiatric nurse internship positions.

Coleman College/Human Service Technology Program

A new path for the Human Service Program is not only its Certified Prevention Specialist certification, but also a new course in Community Organization. As the Prevention Specialist of today must work with individuals and whole communities, Pathways will be encouraging Prevention students--and individuals from the greater Houston community--to take advantage of this new course, and qualify for a 50% tuition rebate, thanks to a grant through the Pathways Project.
