Community Health Initiatives
The Greater Houston Area Health Education Center is committed to helping build healthier communities in which all people have access to health care services and are active and informed consumers.
The Pathways Project, a partnership between the Network of Behavioral
Health Providers and Greater Houston Area Health Education Center (AHEC),
is exploring different paths along which individuals can travel toward different
behavioral health careers. 
This multi-year project began in August 2009 by working
with two schools --the DeBakey High School of Health
Professions and Coleman College of Health Sciences of
Houston Community College.
Through exposure, education, experience and extra
incentives, we will be studying variables which impact on career choice, and encouraging students to pursue careers in the behavioral health fields.
