Texas Health Match is a FREE public job matching service supported through funds and grants from the State of Texas and the Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  Our office, Greater Houston AHEC, serves four counties: Harris, Ft. Tobacco Education: Program Coordinators provide community partners with free tobacco programs and educational activities. 

          

 

                   

CONSULTATIONS focus on second hand smoke issues, local ordinance information, and cessation resources for employees.

 

COMMUNITY PRESENTATIONS on the benefits of smoke-free public places & the hazards of secondhand smoke in the community.

 


 

Elementary Science Activities:  Children discover the world of science in a fun and innovative way.  Students love science when it is explored through hands-on experiments and activities.  Science classes leave children excited and eager for future science experiences.  Hand-on activities, lots of individual attention, and projects to take home all add up to a great time and great learning experience for the child.

        

 To create a class there must be 9 – 11 enrollees at the same site.

 Target Audience:  Students in grades K – 6, especially underrepresented minorities and students in underserved areas. 

 Product/Service Cost :  $10 per student/per class


 Puppet Shows: Thirty minute presentations where puppeteers have dialogue with the students about health careers, safety, & healthy behaviorsStudents participate in written activities that correlate with the puppet show.  
 

Target Audience:  Students in grades Pre K – 2nd, especially underrepresented minorities and students in underserved areas.

 Product/Service Cost (as best can be described):  $30 for a class of up to 30 students ($15 for each additional class on same day)


 Health Careers & Me:  A 60 minute seminar for high school students that focuses on four areas:

Experience Gerontology: This is a 60 minute geriatric sensitivity training for high school students that focuses on four areas:

 Product/Service Cost:  $50 for a class of up to 30 students ($15 for each additional class on same day)


Healthy Choices - A health education presentation for teens or adults.  This is a 60 minute presentation related to current health issues.  It is designed to promote healthy decision making and to educate participants on the importance of developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

 

Target Audience:  Teens and Adults, especially underrepresented minorities and students in underserved areas. 

Product/Service Cost:  $50 for a class of up to 30 students ($15 for each additional class on same day)


Interview & Career Preparation: This 90 minute seminar teaches students skills and techniques for successful job and college application preparation.  Students receive information on how to complete college applications, prepare for college and job interviews, and seek volunteer opportunities.

Dental Impressions: This 60 minute session involves oral health education and dental profession education.  Students learn about health professionals such as a dentist, dental hygienist, dental laboratory technician, and dental assistant.  In addition, they learn about the anatomy of a tooth and proper oral health care while participating in a fun activity where they create a dental mold of their own teeth. 

 

Target Audience:  High school students, especially underrepresented minorities and students in underserved areas.

Product/Service Cost:  $50 for a class of up to 30 students ($25 for each additional class on the same day)
