Community Hero!
The Greater Houston Region of Texas AHEC East pauses for a moment to recognize Danae Moreno – a true “Community Hero”! Danae is an advanced level nursing student attending The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She truly embodies the spirit of a caring and compassionate nurse.
An Extraordinary Community Experience

During her Community Nursing clinical, Danae’s passion for helping others was quickly demonstrated. After learning of a young mom’s struggle to provide a safe route to school for her three year old toddler, Danae quickly jumped into action to provide a solution. With personal time and support from her local church and community, she was able to secure adequate donations to pay for a full year of transportation services for the toddler. When asked what prompted her to go above and beyond to assist the family, Danae simply stated, “… I just wanted to help.” Through her self-less and kind actions, Danae helped to enhance this family’s quality of life. It is this type of community service that drives our community work. Thank you Denae. You are a true “Community Hero”! |
